PROCESS TO PURCHASE
A SCHLOSS FELSEN
GERMAN SHEPHERD PUPPY

Our site is kept up to date with current and planned litters. The puppies are whelped in our home (kitchen area, very busy active room) and stay with us until about 4 weeks of age. They are acclimated to a wide variety of noises and activity such as pans banging, telephone, weather alert radio, visitors, children & grandchildren...etc. They will also spend some time outside on good weather days to acclimate to the grass, highway noise, trains & horns, and all the different smells. Our puppies are socialized and introduced to as many new environments as possible in the few short weeks we have them.

Once the puppies are whelped, there is a puppy page created for each litter. A link to this page is added under the announcement on the litters page. There will be group photos and individual photos. As the pups grow, their personalities begin to emerge. We list these individual traits under each pup as we observe them.

The individual litter page will be updated with photos at 3 wks of age and 6 wks of age. Visitors to the kennel are very welcome, but the Puppy's may only be viewed after 6 wks of age.

At about 4 weeks of age or when the boldest pup decides the whelping area is to small for him/her, the pups are moved to the covered kennel. They have indoor/outdoor access which helps teach them to potty outdoors. In the kennel the pups are still nursed by their mother but do not spend much time with her anymore. They leave our kennel bold and confident. Many previous puppy buyers state they are absolutely fearless.

HEALTH GUARANTEE

Pups are given the best of care. Pups are wormed at 2-4-6 weeks of age to ensure they are free of any parasite. They also receive their first distemper/parvo vaccination. Each pup leaves our kennel with a 2 year health guarantee. Our Guarantee/Contract is online for you to view. The pups are guaranteed healthy when they leave our kennel with a 72 hour return policy for any reason. We provide a 2 year health guarantee against any congenital or hereditary DISABLING disease. The pups Hips/Elbows are guaranteed.

NUTRITION

Good nutrition is critical for a puppy to grow and develop properly. Kibble does not provide all the needed nutrients for a growing puppy's bones and joints. We require a good quality food be fed and supplements be given. It was previously believed dogs made their own vitamin c. There is an ongoing controversy if this is actually true for all dogs. We believe a vitamin c supplement is a very good idea to help with hip joint development. Recommended doses are 250 mg daily to 6 months of age & 500-1000 mg daily after 6 months of age. A very good vitamin supplement that we require is Nuvet Plus. This is an all natural complete supplement that must be given from the day the puppy is received and is a stipulation to our contract. Click Here for more NuVet info or go to the NuVet Website Click Here.

We feed Diamond Brand which is a good quality food. We give NuVet Plus and NuJoint Plus to our adults and vitamin c to all our dogs 2 yrs and younger. IF YOU ARE PURCHASING A PUPPY, PLEASE HAVE THE NUVET READY FOR WHEN THE PUPPY ARIVES.

APPLICATION

Our Application is the first step taken when purchasing a puppy. Please fill out the application in detail with the traits desired in your puppy and provide as much information as possible about your experience with dogs in general and specifically the GSD. This information helps us to recommend puppies that will fit into your situation and lifestyle based on personality, temperament, and drives. Please include your plans for your puppy, how much time you have to spend with your dog, crate training, obedience training, If you plan to train the dog yourself or use an outside trainer, etc....

Please also include the particular breeding you are interested in and any questions you may have. We will email you once we receive your application.

On the application we ask for a vet reference. This is a vet you have used previously for a dog or any other animal. Not necessarily the vet you plan to use now. The only question we ask this vet is if you have taken care of your pet and if the pet has received maintenance (shots & worming) and emergency care when needed. We do not get into personal issues.

Once the application is received and approved, the next step is securing your puppy with a deposit.

DEPOSITS

To secure a puppy from a specific litter a deposit is required. We will not hold a puppy without a deposit. We accept deposits on all current litters. We do not accept deposits on planned litters until we have a successful mating with a proven bitch, and a pregnancy verification with a maiden bitch. The deposit amount is $500. We accept all forms of payment for the deposit. BANK WIRE, Paypal is our preferred method of payment, but the Paypal fees will be passed down to the buyer. We will send a verification email the deposit has been received.

DEPOSITS ARE NONREFUNDABLE BUT MAY BE BOUNCED TO ANOTHER LITTER.

When moving your deposit to another litter, your deposit will be placed BEHIND anyone already in place. We cannot move you ahead of someone else even if your deposit was received before theirs. If you intend to jump to another litter, it is best to do so as early as possible.

You may send your deposit to:

TEMPERAMENT TEST

We complete a Temperament Test between 7-8 weeks of age. A link to the test results will be placed on the puppies page for each indivdual pup. This information is a wonderful asset when choosing your puppy. Soon after the test results are uploaded to the site, the puppy choice process begins. I will email the first person on the list and work down to the last.

CHOOSING YOUR PUPPY

Puppy choice is based on the order the deposits were received. First deposit gets first choice. This is the only fair way we have found to proceed. A speedy deposit is crucial to obtain the pup of your choice.

We understand the choice process is sometimes tough. We are available to make recommendations and help with such a critical decision. We have provided photos and temperament test results to help the buyers who cannot visit to make their choice. We request you have 3 puppy preferences choosen before the process begins to help make a decision more quickly as there are others also waiting to choose their puppy.

SHIPPING

Pups are available for pickup at 8 weeks of age. Many people are unable to pick up due to time or distance. We ship pups throughout the US via air cargo.

Many buyers are asking to receive their puppy early due to a conflict within their schedule. The pups schedule for shots, worming, and availability is already preset from the day they were born. Due to health risks outside the kennel and time frames for the puppy vaccinations to boost their immune systems, the pups are not available for shipment or pickup before 8 weeks of age. We can work with your schedule after 8 weeks of age, but not prior to 8 weeks of age. The added health risk to the puppy when taken from the kennel early is not worth it. PLEASE DON'T ASK!!!!

We live in a small community and ship from Scottsbluff Regional Airport. The weather dictates when we can fly due to regulations on shipment of live animals. Depending on the season, shipping can take a few weeks to get the puppy to you as we must wait for acceptable temperatures. When we get the chance to ship, we must ship or loose our opportunity. We try to work with you and your schedule but BUYERS MUST BE FLEXIBLE AND AVAILABLE TO PICK UP THEIR PUP. On occasion pups must be picked up late in the evening, or to a different destination airport.

If we have a large number of puppies flying, we often times make a trip to Denver ourselves. This provides us with more shipping options. This trip does take an entire day for us and a day from work so there is an additional $100 delivery fee added to the cost which just covers the gas cost. This delivery is solely at our discretion.

We have recently started shipping the pups collect. You will pay for your puppy's shipping when you pick him/her up at the cargo area. We only require payment for the crate and health certificate and it must be paid prior to shipping. Eight week old pups are shipped in medium size crates. Shipping cost goes up with each size larger crate. If the pups flight does not get into the destination airport before the cargo areas close, then the shipping will need to be prepaid. This is not common but does happen.

PAYMENT

Final Payment + shipping is due once you have chosen your puppy.
PUPPY WILL NOT SHIP IF PAYMENT IS NOT RECEIVED.
We accept forms of payment such as Money Orders, Cashiers checks, Bank Wires, Western Union, and Credit Cards through Paypal

WE ACCEPT PERSONAL CHECKS FOR DEPOSITS, BUT NO PERSONAL CHECKS ACCEPTED FOR FINAL PAYMENT AS IT TAKES 2 WEEKS FOR PERSONAL CHECKS TO CLEAR THE BANK!!

SUPPORT

We provide LIFE TIME SUPPORT to all puppy buyers for any questions, concerns, or problems that may arrise after you receive your puppy. We also request periodic updates on your puppy's development and photos are always greatly appreciated.
