PROCESS TO PURCHASE
A SCHLOSS FELSEN
GERMAN SHEPHERD PUPPY
Our site is kept up to date with current and planned litters.
Schloss Felsen German Shepherd puppies are born in our home (kitchen area, very busy active room). They are acclimated to a wide variety of noises and activity such as pans banging, telephone, weather alert radio, visitors, children & grandchildren...etc. The pups are handled daily, accustomed to loud noise, and become part of our family. During this period they will also spend some time outside on good weather days to acclimate to the grass, highway noise, trains & horns, and all the different smells.
Once the puppies are whelped, the puppies page is updated with DOB, availability, and usually a group photo. We will update photos at 3 wks of age and 6 wks of age. Actually we usually update more often, but cannot guarantee a specific number or time frame. Visitors to the kennel are very welcome, but the Puppy's may only be viewed after 6 wks of age.
At about 4 weeks of age or when the pups decide the whelping area is to small for them, they are moved to the covered kennel. In the kennel the pups are still nursed by their mother but do not spend much time with her anymore. They spend allot of time on the grass or taking walks down our driveway. They leave our kennel bold and confident. Many previous puppy buyers state they are absolutely fearless.

HEALTH GUARANTEE
Pups are given the best of care. Pups are wormed at 2-4-6 weeks of age to ensure they are free of any parasite. They also receive their first distemper/parvo vaccination. Each pup leaves our kennel with a 2 year health guarantee. The pups are guaranteed healthy when they leave our kennel with a 72 hour return policy for any reason. We provide a 2 year health guarantee against any congenital or hereditary DISABLING disease.

NUTRITION & RECOMMENDATIONS
Good nutrition is critical for a puppy to grow and develop properly. Kibble does not provide all the needed nutrients for a growing puppy's bones and joints. We require a good quality food and supplements be given.
We feed NutriSource Adult Lamb to all our adult family members. www.dogfoodadvisor.com is an easy way to find a quality food. We supplement with lots of eggs, chicken, chicken livers, catfish, and fish oil. We start the pups on NutriSource Small/Med Breed Puppy food with egg, goats milk for the first few weeks. This food is found in most feed stores and is a high quality food. Our puppies from our larger boys that we keep for ourselves will be changed over to adult food instead of puppy food after 12 wks of age to slow the growth. Supplements are also recommeneded for additional nutrition and they love it.
It was previously believed dogs made their own vitamin c. There is an ongoing controversy if this is actually true for all dogs. We believe ESTER C supplement is a very good idea to help with hip joint development and immune system. Ester C is easily absorbed with no stomach upset. Every dog in our kennel receives this supplement daily. We have a testimony of its remarkable benefits with one adult female scratching terribly. They tried everything with no change. After a couple weeks of Ester C there was absolutely no more itching. Recommended doses are 250 mg daily to 6 months of age & 500-1000 mg daily after 6 months of age.
A very good vitamin supplement that we require is Nuvet Plus. This is an all natural complete supplement that must be given to the puppy and is a stipulation to our contract. Click Here for more NuVet info.
We also recommend NuJoint DS to supply the joints with needed nutrients to develop properly .
IF YOU ARE PURCHASING A PUPPY, PLEASE HAVE THESE SUPPLEMENTS READY FOR WHEN THE PUPPY ARRIVES.
Below is a link to an article on Vaccine Damage. We have talked to our vet, and have altered our vaccination schedule to the puppy series, and one vaccination at 4 yrs of age instead of every year. We have modified our vaccination schedule for all our dogs and recommend you research this in depth. Auto-immune disorders are plagueing the canine community and the strict annual vaccine schedule that most vets recommend is the cause as it is over stimulating the immune system which then begins to attach itself. Please Please do your research.
Rabies is a killed virus so it is less dangerous and regulated by law. We will vaccinate our dogs for rabies every 3 yrs.
Please read about VACCINE DAMAGE at links below

APPLICATION
Our Application is the first step taken when purchasing a puppy. Please fill out the application in detail with the traits desired in your puppy and provide as much information as possible about your experience with dogs in general and specifically the GSD. This information helps us to recommend puppies that will fit into your situation and lifestyle based on personality, temperament, and drives. Please include your plans for your puppy, how much time you have to spend with your dog, crate training, obedience training, If you plan to train the dog yourself or use an outside trainer, etc....
Please also include the particular breeding you are interested in and any questions you may have. We will email you once we receive your application.
On the application we ask for a vet reference. This is a vet you have used previously for a dog or any other animal. Not necessarily the vet you plan to use now. The only question we ask this vet is if you have taken care of your pet and if the pet has received maintenance (shots & worming) and emergency care when needed. We do not get into personal issues.
Once the application is received and approved, the next step is securing your puppy with a deposit.

DEPOSITS
We have implemented a new waiting list system instead of placing deposits on a certain litter. We hope this solves the disappointment issues when a litter doesnt come through. Our waiting list is located toward the bottom of the puppies page along with our planned litters. Our planned litters often times change as the girls cycles are never exact and many variables come into play. This waiting list is for all litters and processed in the order the deposits are received. The depositors toward the top of the list will be offered the current available pups. If they decline, we will work our way down the list until all slots are filled. We no longer move anyone to a planned litter before whelping. Deposits are non refundable for up to a year. If we have not been able to offer you a puppy for a year, your deposit is refundable. Once a puppy is offered, the deposit is totally non refundable. To secure a slot on the waiting list, a $500 deposit is required. Once Im told the deposit is in the mail, I will hold the slot until its received. If the postmark date isnt correct, the waiting list lineup will be adjusted. We accept personal checks(deposit only), bank checks, money orders, and bank wires.
Once we get through the application process and approved, You may send your deposit to:

CHOOSING YOUR PUPPY
Puppy choice is based on the order the deposits were received. First deposit gets first choice and then we work down the list. This is the only fair way we have found to proceed. A speedy deposit is crucial to obtain the pup of your choice.
We understand the choice process is sometimes tough. We are available to make recommendations and help with such a critical decision. We provide photos and observed personality traits to help the buyers who cannot visit to make their choice. If you are toward the top of the litter list and have choice of more than one or two pups, We request you have 3 puppy preferences choosen before the process begins to help make a decision more quickly as there are others also waiting to choose their puppy.
BUYERS ARE VERY WELCOME TO VISIT THE KENNEL TO PICK OUT THEIR PUPPY AT THE APPOPRIATE TIME WHEN WE BEGIN THE CHOICE PROCESS. THIS IS USUALLY AT 6-7 WKS OF AGE. AT THAT TIME THE PUPPIES ARE NOT READY TO GO YET, SO THERE WILL BE ANOTHER TRIP NEEDED TO PICK UP OR ANOTHER OPTION IS TO SHIP THE PUPPY, WHEN THE PUPPY IS 8 WKS OF AGE AND READY TO GO.
OUR CO-OWN LITTERS TIMEFRAME IS EXTENEDED BY TWO WEEKS TO ALLOW FOR THE PUPS TO BE WITH MOM UNTIL 8 WKS OF AGE, THEN TRANSFERRED TO THE KENNEL. SELECTION AND TAKE HOME DATE WILL BE AT 8 WKS AND 10 WKS OF AGE.

LIMTED REGISTRATION (Limits Breeding)--$2000 + SHIPPING ($475 For puppy)

SHIPPING
SHIPPING cost is $475 for pups, $750 or more for Adults, Which includes the crate and health certificate.
Pups are available for shipping/pickup at 8 weeks of age. Many people are unable to pick up due to time or distance. We ship pups throughout the US (Hawaii has quarantine so we cant ship to that state) via United air cargo. United is the best with the puppies and does not treat them as luggage. United does not ship to all airports, also some of their planes are not equipped to carry live animals. So when looking at their flights, flying into your airport does not mean we can get the pup there as the planes may not be equipped for live animals. We ship only to major airports so you may end up driving to pick up your puppy. Please be assured this is in the best interest of the puppy.
We ship out of Scottsbluff NE for small litters and will make the trip to Denver (200 miles away) for large litters. We wait until right before shipping to make the arrangements so to get as accurate of a weather forecast as possible. The roads are very treacherous between us and Denver and will only ship on good weather days. Depending on the season, shipping can be difficult due to temperature extremes. When we get the chance to ship, we must ship or lose our opportunity. We try to work with you and your schedule but BUYERS MUST BE FLEXIBLE AND AVAILABLE TO PICK UP THEIR PUP. On occasion when we have only one puppy to ship, we may ship out of our regional airport.
Many buyers are asking to receive their puppy early due to a conflict within their schedule. The pups schedule for shots, worming, and availability is already preset from the day they were born. Due to health risks outside the kennel and time frames for the puppy vaccinations to boost their immune systems, the pups are not available for shipment or pickup before 8 weeks of age. ****PLUS ITS THE LAW**** PLEASE DON'T ASK!!!!
Every litter has the take home date listed under the announcement. This date is the date we begin shipping or make the puppies available for pick up. Please note: VACATIONS DO NOT TAKE PRIORITY OVER RECEIVING YOUR NEW FAMILY MEMBER.
WE HAVE IMPLEMENTED A BOARDING FEE OF $10/DAY FOR ANYONE NOT READY TO ACCEPT THEIR PUP
Please be prepared to receive your new bundle when they are ready. If the vacation can not be changed, then please move to another litter.

PAYMENT
Final Payment + shipping is due once you have chosen your puppy.
PUPPY WILL NOT SHIP IF PAYMENT IS NOT RECEIVED.
